Assessments of Weather Research and Forecasting Land Surface Models in Precipitation Simulation Over the Tibetan Plateau

چکیده

Precipitation is a key hydrometeorological variable for understanding surface energy partitioning and water budget over the Tibetan Plateau (TP). A substantial proportion of summer precipitation falls as rain. The effects different land models (LSMs) on TP’s their inner mechanisms remain unclear. Therefore, assessments LSMs coupled with Weather Research Forecasting model in simulation were investigated TP during June 28–29 2008. simulated results evaluated merged Climate Prediction Center (CPC) MORPHing technique (CMORPH) data set developed by China Meteorological Administration. assessment demonstrated that Community Land Model Version 4 (CLM4), Noah-Multiparameterization (Noah-MP), Pleim-Xiu LSM schemes was wider stronger compared CMORPH central western but underestimated eastern southern regions. Generally, both CLM4 Noah-MP exhibited higher forecasting quality accuracy simulating TP. optimal achieved applying scheme, lowest root mean square error 9.53 mm/day, mainly attributed to its corrections overforecasting did not occur. Further mechanism analysis indicated soil moisture-energy flux-precipitation feedback play an important role schemes.

Estimation of land surface temperature retrieved from EOS/MODIS in Naqu area over Tibetan Plateau

Using split window algorithms developed by Sobrino, added a suff icient and simple cloud detection process for MODIS L1B data. Then based on land surface classif ication (land, water, snow & ice), retrieved four land surface temperature images for clear sky in Naqu area over Tibetan Plateau in January, April, June and October in 2007, respectively. After that the derived LST was compared with t...

The land surface water and energy budgets over the Tibetan

10
Tibetan Plateau plays an important role in the Asian Monsoon and global general 11
circulation system. Due to the lack of quantitative observations and complicate cold 12
season processes in high elevation terrain, however, the land surface water and energy 13
budgets are still unexplored over this special region. In this study, the water and energy 14
 balances are detail analyzed based...
